General Surgery

Surgical procedures performed by surgeons are an essential component of the Naini Hospital’s services. The hospital has five operation theatres that cater to a wide range of specialities, including General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, and minor or infected surgeries. The air-conditioned operation theatres are well-equipped with modern medical equipment such as Boyles Apparatus, monitors, oxygen and anaesthesia gases, suction apparatus, formalin vaporizers, electro-cautery devices, autoclaves, and a comprehensive range of general surgical instruments. These facilities ensure a safe and efficient surgical environment for patients.

The General Surgery department handles various common surgical problems, including hernias, hydroceles, varicose veins, laparotomies, gall bladder surgeries, open prostate surgeries, skin grafts for large ulcers, excision and grafting for tumours, tendon transfer surgeries, fistulas, sinuses, swellings, amputations, and early prosthetic fittings. The department also specializes in treating diabetic and vascular wounds.

General surgery consultations are available for patients in the outpatient department (OPD) on Thursdays, as well as on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Operating days are scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays, and patients are scheduled for surgery after being evaluated by the resident anesthesiologist. Most cases requiring general or regional anaesthesia may require admission to the hospital.

The General Surgery department strives to provide comprehensive and specialized care to patients, ensuring their well-being throughout the surgical process.
